Jade Sunouchi


Jade Sunouchi has a B.A. and M.A. in English, with a concentration in creative writing, from UH Mānoa. She teaches English composition at UH West O‘ahu and is a UH Mānoa Library and Information Science graduate student focused on academic librarianship. She serves as President of the American Library Association Student Chapter and on the board of the Hawai‘i Library Association. She enjoys gardening and her many stuffed animals.

Taryn Nakamura

Vice President

Taryn Nakamura is a graduate student in the Library and Information Science program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. A former communications professional, she worked for eight years in public relations and internal communications in agency, university, and corporate settings before deciding to pursue librarianship. Taryn hopes to become a public or school librarian and has worked as a library assistant at ‘Iolani School Libraries and interned at the Mānoa Public Library. In her free time, she enjoys running and hiking with her partner and her family’s dogs.

Brianna Nakano


Brianna is a current graduate student in the Library and Information Science program at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, graduating in December 2021. She is interested in Cataloging & Metadata Librarianship and has a background in Art History and Interface/Print Design. Currently, she works as a Technical Services Assistant at the UHM Law Library. She enjoys playing video games, listening to spooky stories and true crime, and learning about her Okinawan heritage. 

Lori Misaka


Lori Misaka is in her second year of the LIS program, focusing on public programs in academic libraries, and support services for first generation and multilingual college students. She previously was an English teacher in the Hawai‘i State Department of Education, and serves on the Superintendent’s Multilingualism Policy Advisory Committee. Currently she is a reference assistant in the Business, Humanities, and Social Sciences Department at UHM’s Hamilton Library. She lives in Mililani with her husband, three sons, and dog, and likes to read, hike, watch movies, and try to be a foodie in her free time.

Michelle Ann Carino


Michelle is a part-time LIS student on the Informatics track with an interest in human-computer interaction. Full-time, she works as a user interface designer at the College of Education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Prior to working at the university, she worked with non-profit organizations, with ad and design agencies, and in-house. She studied graphic design and graduated from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a Bachelor in Fine Art.
